Our School's Humble Beginnings and Growth
Our primary school, Cambridge Junior School, wasn't always the bustling place we know today. It actually started quite small, back in 2012. I remember Tr.peace telling us that it began in just a few classrooms like 5 classes. our school was so unique in its setting, children couldnot carry anything to school which many people thought would not last but they were wrong. teaching reading using plly phonius was news in the community and the ambiant classroom environment became an attraction to the community. caring and loving pupils, smartness and the good spoken english, discipline were key indentitiers of cambridge pupils.
Imagine, the first students were likely just a small group of children like 27 pupils from the local village, eager to learn their ABCs and 123s. They probably didn't have the colorful books and computers we use now. Instead, they might have used slates and chalk, or learned by listening carefully to their teacher.
As our community grew, so did our school. Over the years, more classrooms were built e.g., 'the two-story building near the football field was added later'. The schoolyard, which is now our favorite place to play, might have been just a dusty patch of land back then.
I've heard stories about the first headteachers, like mrs. ssebunya sarah. she worked hard to make sure every child had a chance to learn reading and grow. They faced challenges, maybe with getting enough resources or building new facilities, but their commitment helped shape the school we love.
Even the traditions we have, like e.g., 'our annual sports day', probably have their own history. Maybe the sports day started as a simple gathering and grew into the big event it is now.
Thinking about the history of cambridge junior school makes me appreciate all the people who have been a part of it – the teachers who have dedicated their lives, the students who have passed through these classrooms, and the community that has supported its growth. We are all part of its ongoing story, and one day, future students will learn about our time here too!
